BLake Randolph

With a J.D. from George Washington University, and a B.A. from Augustana College in Business Administration and Spanish, Blake has developed a robust technological, business, and legal acumen. With this background in mind, he will strive to bridge the technological gap within the Halls of Congress for the betterment of those outside of them. His desire for a fast-paced, innovative, and entrepreneurial environment initially motivated him to pursue business development, which led to two internships with Fortune 500 corporations. Starting out as a financial advisor, he counseled clients towards reaching their financial goals as part of a holistic investment approach. Later, as an intern with State Farm, he pioneered a prototype commercial-use drone liability policy. His analytical skills and creative approach to problem-solving ultimately brought him to Washington D.C., where he would go on to study the intersection of technology and the law.

Recognizing its transformative impact, Blake sought out coursework in areas particularly affected by new technology: civil rights, criminal law, information privacy, and national security. He began writing several academic papers on novel, but critical legal areas like Section 230, encryption, data regulation, and the United States Cyber Command. These academic works were complemented by internships that enabled him to further refine his technological and legal skills. At the Institute for Justice, Blake gained insight into conducting high-level litigation focused on vindicating the civil liberties of everyday Americans. There, he was an advocate for civil rights and conducted research into the constitutionality of law enforcement’s use of advancing technologies. At the Department of Commerce, he worked alongside experts from the National Institute of Science and Technology and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Most recently, he completed an internship with The Department of Justice where he participated in federal investigations and analyzed ethical complaints lodged against Department personnel.

Blake is serving with Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) and working on data privacy, future of transportation, and fintech issues.
