Dr. Celeste Chamberlain

Dr. Celeste Chamberlain was the first African-American woman to graduate with a doctorate in Emergency Management from Jacksonville State University. Her academic journey started by attaining her BS in Computer Science from Hampton University. She has since earned the Computer Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification, a gold standard in the cybersecurity field.
Professor Chamberlain teaches cybersecurity at the University of Maryland Global Campus and Eastern shore. Prior to becoming a university professor, she worked as a government employee and contractor for federal agencies such as FEMA, DOJ, and DIA, where she used to secure classified and unclassified systems.
In her spare time, Dr. Chamberlain is an advocate for the autism community and an autism parent. She created a non-profit, 3.14 Academy, which provides free courses and resources for parents and caregivers of people on the spectrum. She has created multiple training applications gear towards children with autism to help them engage in STEM learning.
Dr. Chamberlain is serving with the Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee Majority Staff and supporting issues of cybersecurity and federal IT procurement.
