Do you want an in-depth experience at the heart of tech policymaking in Congress and Washington, D.C.? TechCongress seeks a self-motivated graduate or undergraduate student or an individual with similar experience for a part or full-time internship for the Fall 2025 semester. You should have an interest in learning about and improving Congress or technology policy.

TechCongress is building 21st century government with technology talent through our Congressional Fellowships. We are a nonprofit with a mission to bridge the divide between Congress and the technology sector by placing technologists with Members of Congress and Congressional Committees to build capacity in Congress, train cross-sector leaders— who can understand the challenges of government and the technology community— and keep Congress up-to-date about the latest challenges and opportunities relating to technology.

This internship is an in-person position, with the intern working at least two days a week in our Washington DC office. You must be based in the DC metropolitan area (DC, MD, VA) for the duration of this internship.

This is a paid position ($18/hour).

We are looking for a self-starting intern who will be a core member of TechCongress’ Communications Team. You will support the design and execution of TechCongress’ communications and external engagement strategy by fulfilling a range of strategic, programmatic and administrative duties. You will receive day-to-day guidance from the Communications Manager.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Support the administration of the Congressional Fellowships.

  • Support the organization and implementation of our recruitment and orientation events.

  • Assist with the development of communications materials and information products, including collateral for online platforms, web pages, reports, presentations and graphics.

  • Support the analysis and strategic planning of our social media strategy, making recommendations and pitching content ideas where feasible.

  • Help keep TechCongress’s website current through active upkeep, including proposing, drafting and uploading content.

  • Help facilitate communications and outreach by co-designing a content calendar, implementing social media campaigns and providing administrative support.

  • Assist with TechCongress’s monthly newsletter by conducting research, liaising with teammates and TechCongress stakeholders for updates to include, drafting language and leading the circulation of newsletters through marketing automation tools.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

You will also have the opportunity to author or co-author blog posts, articles, press releases or press pitches, as well as the chance to attend educational events.

Required Qualifications:

  • A self-starter who can take on projects with minimal supervision;

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills;

  • Strong organizational skills, and keen attention to detail;

  • Available to work between 20-40 hours a week (part time or full time).

Additional Skills (a plus, but not required):

  • Familiarity with marketing automation tools, website management platforms, and image editing software (Squarespace, MailChimp, Zapier, Canva, etc.)

  • Familiarity with G-Suite;

  • Experience managing organizational social media accounts (non-personal accounts);

  • Interest in tech and policy.
