Lauren Luo is a software engineer with an interest in data privacy and governance.

Most recently Lauren worked at Instagram, where she built privacy-aware infrastructure to support consent order responses and established data consistency and governance mechanisms for sensitive user data. Prior to this she contributed to Facebook photo infrastructure modernization efforts.

Beyond her professional work, Lauren volunteered as a computer science teacher at a NYC public high school through the Microsoft TEALs program, and she remains a dedicated advocate for equitable access to computer science education.

Lauren holds a B.A. in computer science and American studies from Wellesley College. Her coursework in legislative drafting and participation in Cyber 9/12 Strategy Challenge competitions sparked her interest in technology policy. While serving in Congress, she hopes to work on policy issues such as data privacy applications in emerging technologies and youth safety online.
