Sean Leahy
Sean is a technologist and team leader who has directly support United States Defense and Intelligence missions since he was 24. Focusing primarily on data science, intelligent information systems, and natural language processing, Sean has been part of technology and innovation programs from preliminary R&D phases all the way to ongoing, large scale programs of record generating daily support to warfighters. His mission is to continue to nurture the American Innovation Ecosystem and speed delivery of effective tools and solutions to the Defense and Intelligence communities.
Sean has led a variety of heterogeneous teams combining deep technological expertise with high user empathy, mission subject matter expertise, and critical problem solving capabilities. He favors systems thinking and looks for high leverage points instead of linear cause-and-effect ideas. Sean persistently emphasizes documentation and written collateral designed to assist partners and end users.
Most recently, Sean was Director of Technical Services at Sayari, a ventured backed start-up providing global OSINT financial ownership data to defense, intelligence, and commercial customers. There, he oversaw all technical engagement with new and existing customers in coordination with Sayari's revenue, product, and engineering teams. Prior to Sayari, Sean was the Corporate Strategist for Data Machines Corporation, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business working with clients in the Defense and Intelligence Research and Development communities.
Combining his background in data science, consulting, and business development, Sean lead teams engaged in R&D work both in traditional contracting structures, as well as innovative Other Transaction Agreements to successful technological maturation and follow-on production contract awards. In 2020, Sean led the team that won a competitive down-selection for a major Army Biometric Intelligence program. Sean began his career in the Defense and Intelligence Technology space with Booz Allen Hamilton, where he focused on Data Science initiatives at The Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Organization, The Office of The Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller), and multiple partners within the Intelligence Community.
Sean holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science from Columbia University, where he was a four-year member and two-year captain of the Division 1 Fencing Team.
Sean is working under Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) working on defense tech procurement and cybersecurity issues.
