Wes hurd
Wes is a technologist, experienced in information security analysis, software development, and computing. He had the opportunity to train and learn from IC cyber threat analysts while working at the information security startup ThreatConnect. More recently, he has served in information security analysis, development, and security engineering roles at Dragos, Red Canary, and Mozilla. He earned a B.S. degree in Computer Science from George Mason University.
Over the last several years, he developed an interest in the broader impact of technology on society, and the importance of law and policy in driving organizational behavior and outcomes. As a 2021-2022 Policy Hacker at the Foundation for American Innovation, he explored issues around election information security. He is passionate about outcome-driven policy toward serving the common good. His specific tech policy areas of interest include AI risk and regulation, public-private information security initiatives, security by design, Federal cybersecurity, and data privacy.
Wes is serving with the Majority Staff of the House Science Committee Research and Technology Subcommittee and working on AI research and standards, quantum computing, and cybersecurity issues.
