Alice Hau
Alice is a technologist and entrepreneur with extensive industry experience ranging from the Fortune 500 to the startup ecosystem of Silicon Valley. As a software engineer, data scientist, and co-founder and operator who raised over $4M in venture capital, she has worked across the verticals of insurance, data analytics, finance, social media, and retail at companies including Facebook, Bloomberg, Tableau, and her own AI startup. Through these experiences, she gained a deep understanding and appreciation of how technology and innovation can profoundly impact every corner of our society if guided thoughtfully and in collaboration with leaders across both the private and public sectors.
At Stanford, she earned a B.S. in Computer Science with a concentration in Information and an M.A. in Philosophy with a concentration in Science. In her graduate studies, she conducted an independent study on privacy in the context of our new digital age and modern information economy. She also explored the limitations of analogies between data science and the natural sciences through a historical and sociological lens. Most recently, she spent time at Stanford’s Institute for Human-Centered AI building bridges between academia and industry to scale the positive impact of AI research.
Now at TechCongress, she hopes to bring a new entrepreneurial perspective to government to facilitate multi-stakeholder collaboration and innovation in solving our most pressing civic challenges while promoting our shared American values.
Alice is serving on the Senate Committee for Commerce, Science, and Transportation under Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) and working on science, cybersecurity, space, regional innovation, and technology issues ranging across the National Science Foundation, Department of Commerce, and National Institute of Standards and Technology.
