Jennifer Hernandez
Jennifer Hernandez is an innovator that views challenges as opportunities and believes in the power of technology to improve everyday life. After joining the City of Miami in 2019 as a Data Fellow, she became the City’s first Senior Data Scientist. In this role, she enabled fact-based decision-making by ensuring easy access to reliable and timely data, spearheaded the City’s first data warehouse, established best-practices for data governance, collaborated to build a sustainable Internet of Things data infrastructure, developed pipelines for real-time business intelligence, and applied machine learning models to improve government services. She also led the City’s Data Program with a focus to increase transparency and trust with the community, and prototyped data solutions that leverage bleeding-edge technologies such as blockchains and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Her past experience includes policy research, information architecture, user experience, prototyping, and project management. She has an MFA in Interactive Media from the University of Miami, a BA in International Relations and Asian Studies from Florida International University and an AA with Honors from Miami-Dade College.
Jennifer is serving with the newly announced House Digital Service, where she is helping to create a data roadmap and proof of concept that enables data-driven decision-making for the House.
