PETER CIHON

Peter Cihon serves as Senior Advisor with the Center for AI Standards and Innovation, where he leads industry partnerships and standards development. 

Peter entered public service after leading AI and cybersecurity policy at GitHub, where he advocated for developers, open source, and innovation globally. He has published research on numerous AI-related topics, including productivity measurement, standardization, risk assessment, agent governance, and labor impacts. He is an affiliate of the Johns Hopkins University School of Government and Policy.

Peter has advised the OECD AI Policy Observatory and the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Advisory Body on AI. He was previously a researcher with the Centre for the Governance of AI at the University of Oxford, and began his career researching internet access development in South Asia as a Google Policy Fellow. He has an M.Phil. in Technology Policy from the University of Cambridge and a B.A. from Williams College.
