Sarah Abdulkerim
Sarah is a dedicated AI Ethicist with a strong focus on AI governance, consumer protections, and worker's rights within global supply chains. Previously, she served as an Associate Data Scientist and AI Ethicist at T-Mobile, collaborating across departments to deliver Ethical AI guidance aligned with legislation and cutting-edge research. Her work involved close coordination with the company's legal team, in which she prioritzed a socio-technical approach to AI governance. Working within an AI team specializing in speech-to-text solutions, Sarah conducted comprehensive bias testing and linguistic research to evaluate the phonological and lexical factors that impact model performance. She delivered talks and presentations on AI Ethics with a focus on bias in Natural Language Processing.
Sarah achieved a B.A. in Computer Science at Wellesley College. Throughout her academic career, she served as a student researcher, investigating methods to enhance the experiences of women of color in the field of Computer Science. Sarah is passionate about diversity and representation, and she values being a source of mentorship for underrepresented minorities in the technology field.
Sarah is serving with Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA) on emerging technology and artificial intelligence issues.
